Tampa, Florida -- As a sex scandal involving former CIA Director David Petraeus continues to unravel, a media stakeout of sorts has sprung up in front of a South Tampa home.
That's because its owner, Jill Kelley is the woman at the center of the scandal.
The socialite is a close friend of Petraeus' and served as a sort of social ambassador for U.S. Central Command in Tampa, hosting parties for the general when he was commander there from 2008-10.
The 37-year-old woman's complaint about an anonymous, threatening email triggered an FBI investigation that uncovered Petraeus' affair and led to his downfall.
All day Tuesday news crews, both locally and nationally, waited outside Kelley's home on Bayshore Boulevard. Waiting for... well, anything.
But aside from Kelley occasionally sitting in near a front window and eventually driving from the house in a Mercedes, little could be reported from the residence by Tuesday afternoon.
Developments were taking place elsewhere, however. TheFBI raided the North Carolina home of Petraeus' alleged mistress, Paula Broadwell. Investigators are also poring over email between Kelley and Gen. John Allen, who succeeded Petraeus as the top American commander in Afghanistan in July 2011. Allen has denied wrongdoing.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
