MOBILE, Ala. -- A local television station weather camera caught dramatic video of what appeared to be a large tornado ripping through sections of Mobile, Alabama Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service confirmed reports of the tornado touchdown, but could not immediately confirm any reports of serious injury or death.
According to local reports, Murphy High School, a school that houses around 2,300 students, suffered significant damage, includingblown out windows and roof damage.
A local hospital also had minor damage and had to relocate some patients.
This system is being blamed for the worst Christmas tornado outbreak in U.S. history. Itis also producing strong winds and cold weather. The National Weather Service in Little Rock issued their first ever blizzard warning.
The winter weather is heading towards the northeast and could have an impact on holiday travelers returning from Christmas vacations. Hub cities from Cleveland to Charlotte could see delays and cancellations in the coming days.
