Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Two men were arrested Saturday after they reportedly shot a young deer from their SUV on State Road 52.

Pasco County deputies say around 10:40 p.m., Charles Jones and Michael McCord were driving on the road near Darby when they spotted a "small young deer".

McCord then pulled over and Jones shot the deer with a rifle as he sat in the passenger seat of their Ford Explorer. They left the deer and ditched the rifle in the area of State Road 52 and Ehren Cutoff.

The two were later caught and arrested. Jones, 54, was charged with illegal possession of wildlife while McCord, 51, was charged with illegal possession of wildlife and discharging a firearm in public.

Both have since been released from jail.
