Lakeland, FL-- A horrific crash in Lake County took the lives of four people Friday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
They say the fatal accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near State Road 33 and Groveland Airport Road.
According to reports, the car was traveling southbound on State Road 33, when for an unknown reason, the driver lost control and left the roadway, striking several trees and a pole.
The car then continued onto the shoulder, and stopped when the roof of the car hit a tree.
Officials say the 41-year-old male driver and a male child were pronounced dead at the scene.
A female toddler and a male child were transported to Southlake Hospital, where they, too, passed away.
Reports say all of the children were wearing their seat belts.
All passengers were reportedly from Lakeland.Officials are working to notify the next of kin.
