Sao Paulo, Brazil (Sports Network) - Seventh seed Pablo Andujar was an opening-round winner Monday at the Brasil Open.

The Spanish Andujar took care of Colombian Santiago Giraldo 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at this red clay event.

The top seed here is former world No. 1 great Rafael Nadal, who was a shocking loser at the hands of Argentine Horacio Zeballos in Sunday's final in Vina Del Mar, Chile.

This week's second seed is two-time reigning champion Nicolas Almagro, who beat Italian Filippo Volandri in last year's Sao Paolo finale and also captured this event in Costa do Sauipe in 2011 and 2008.

The 2013 Brasil Open titlist will earn $82,300.
