YOUNGSTOWN, Fla. (AP) - Weather officials are expecting the first hard freeze of the season for the Panhandle this weekend as a cold front sweeps through.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee said temperatures in inland cities including Youngstown, Fountain and Sand Hills could drop into the mid-20s overnight Saturday and stay there for several hours. The coldest temperatures will be over the Suwannee Valley. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Forecasters said that the mild winter thus far has caused some plants to grow early and warned some may be more susceptible to damage.

Panama City and Panama City Beach are under a freeze warning.
