Scottsdale, AZ (Sports Network) - Donald Lutz went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and five RBI as the Reds took a 14-6 triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Arizona starter Brandon McCarthy, who made an appearance on the mound for the first time since brain surgery last fall, struck out four batters and allowed one earned run on three hits. McCarthy suffered a fractured skull and brain contusion after being hit in the head with a line drive on Sept. 5.
Johnny Cueto had a rough start for the Reds, allowing five hits and four runs -- two earned -- in two innings. Daniel Corcino was also charged for two runs, but picked up the win after Cincinnati put up six runs in the sixth.
Starling Peralta was charged for all six runs and was handed the loss. Aaron Hill went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in defeat.
