St. Petersburg, FL -- It's the third most common cancer, though it's rarely talked about. Considering it's National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, 10 News took the time to learn a bit more about the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 102,480 cases of colon and 40,340 cases of rectal cancer are expected to occur in 2013.

Dr. John Koval fromTampa Bay Radiation Oncology joined us in studio to talk about how you can prevent the disease. He said diet plays a major role in preventing the disease, and said foods high in fat can be dangerous.
