Port Charlotte, Florida -- Friday wasa beautiful day for baseball and a beautiful day to get a hair cut. The Rays decided to go bald for cancer research.

"To the kids and their families, we get it," said Rays manager Joe Maddon. "Anything we can do to help we want to be on board with that."

Many team members shaved their heads to help show support and raise money for kids at thePediatric Cancer Foundation. Last year, the team raised over $7,500 for the foundation and set a $20,000 goal for this year's event.

Rays owner Stu Sternburg joked that he thought "it might take another 10 or 15 years" to go bald. He was one of the first to face the clippers.

Outfielder Luke Scott opted to shave his trademark beard instead of his hair.
