(USA TODAY) In a newFunny or Dieskit that's causing a lot of buzz, Jim Carrey plays Charleton Heston, Sam Elliot and the lead singer of a group called the Clutterbusters, taking aim at gun owners in aHee-Hawshow spoof.
Carrey singsCold Dead Hands, with words about angels not taking Heston, once head of the National Rifle Association, to heaven because they "couldn't pry the gun from his cold dead hands."
It's a spoof of Heston's slogan: "I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands."
This morning, conservative radio host Laura Ingraham criticized Carrey's parody onFox & Friends, saying it was "embarrassing" and indicative of Carrey's "cold, dead career." And, she said, "Hahaha. Make fun of a dead guy who can't respond."
"It's just not funny," said host Steve Doocy.
On Monday evening, Greg Gutfield, co-host of Fox News Channel'sThe Five, calledCarrey a "sad little freak" and "the most pathetic tool on the face of the earth."
Carrey was happy about the controversy, tweeting: "Thx 4 your input 2day. I don't think i've ever felt so despised and so free at the same time."
