CLEARWATER, Florida (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a 2011 death that resulted from a drunken brawl-turned-knife fight-turned-shooting.

Jimmie Hickman entered his guilty plea Tuesday in Pinellas County. The 34-year-old agreed to serve eight years in prison.

Hickman and Olester Clemons got into a drunken fist fight in May 2011 at Hickman's Largo home. The Tampa Tribune reports that Clemons picked up a steak knife and they fought further. Hickman finally got an AK-47 out of his living room and fatally shot Clemons.

Prosecutors said Clemons' family members were OK with the plea deal. How the fight started is still not clear.
