Dixon andBrockington lived in the same complex, in apartments across from each other. Police say they knew each other, but weren't considered friends or enemies.

Police say on the evening of December 7, 2012, Brockington entered Mr. Dixon's apartment without force, and by apparent invitation, intending to steal the victim's money. Mr. Dixon was known to carry large amounts of money in his socks or pockets, because he didn't want to keep money in the bank.

Police believe Brockington stabbed Dixon repeatedly with some sort of weapon until he died. Detectives say Brockington rifled through the victim's pants--pulling the pockets inside-out--and his socks to find the money.

Police say Brockinton can be seen on video walking from his apartment to the victim's, then leaving a few minutes later with two wallets. He is seen emptying one wallet then putting the items into his own. He then hid the wallet in the bushes of a neighboring apartment. Later in the day, Brockington can be seen on video recovering thewallet from the bushes.

Brockington has refused to make any statements to police about the crime.
