Largo, Florida -- The Largo Police Department, along with Clearwater Police and the ATF, has arrested 29 people for illegal narcotics and firearm activities.
In response to tips received from the community, the Largo Police Department Special Operations Unit began an intensive investigation during October 2012 into narcotics activity in the area of Beverly Avenue and Clearwater Largo Road.
Through the course of conducting undercover street level drug transactions, case agents were able to determine the primary distribution point for these illegal narcotics was a unit located at 908 Beverly Ave.
On April 15, members of the Largo Police Department TAC Team and The Clearwater Police Department SWAT Team assisted ATF in the execution of a Federal Search Warrant.
On April 16, members of the Largo Police Department and the Clearwater Police Department conducted a sweep of other suspects wanted in this multi-agency investigation.
On April 17, members of the Largo Police Department Investigative Services Division located and arrested the remaining suspects wanted in connection to this investigation.
This operation resulted in 29 people being arrested on State and federal violations and the removal of:
- 13 firearms
- Approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine
- 40 grams of marijuana
- 40 grams of hydrocodone
- 40 grams of a variety of other narcotics from the streets of Largo.
The firearms seized during this operation ranged from semi-automatic rifles, shotgun and several handguns. Four of these firearms were stolen.
