New York - The Bucs selected defensive back Johnthan Banks out of Mississippi State with their 2nd Round pick.

Banks was a Freshman All-SEC player, First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-American and was awarded the Jim Thorpe Award - given to the nation's top defensive back.

Banks strengths are said to not be afraid of shying away from contact, quick to attack running plays, having good hands, being effective as a blitzer and rips at the ball. Banks also has great change of direction skills anda very competitive nature.

The 6'2 190 lb. Banks has experience playing multiple positions in the secondary and is considered a "ballhawk" by several NFL scouts.

Banks finished his Senior season with 63 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 11 passes defended and 4 interceptions.

The Bucs still have six picks left in the NFL Draft: 3rd Round (#73), 4th Round (#112, #126), 5th Round (#147) and 6th Round (#181, #196).
