Largo, Florida -- A 2-year-old has died after police say the girl was thrown against a wall by her mother's boyfriend.
On May 3, around 3 a.m., Karina Mora brought her 2-year-old child, Ananhie Fernandez, to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. Mora was accompanied by her live-in boyfriend, Joel Cruz.
The child had severe injuries to her chest cavity and no independent brain function, according to police. She later died.
Mora and Cruz were interviewed and Cruz admitted to throwing Ananhie against a chair and a wall.
Cruz was arrested for aggravated child abuse. He's now also charged with first degree murder.
