Pinellas County, Florida -- A Pinellas County Detention Deputy was fired after using excessive force on an inmate and then lying about it.

On December 23, 2012, Deputy Elizabeth Kretzer was on duty at the Pinellas County Jail. Kretzer addressed an inmate who she believed was trying to collect an extra breakfast tray. After a verbal argument, Kretzer continued to supervise the distribution of meals, at which point the inmate "flipped off" Deputy Kretzer.

According to reports, Deputy Kretzer challenged the inmate to repeat the gesture, which the inmate did.

Reportedly, Deputy Dretzer then pulled the victim into a visitation room where she stuck the side of the inmate's face with her hand. Kretzer falsified her report stating that the inmate grabbed her shirt prompting her to slap the inmate, which proved to be untrue.

Deputy Kretzer was terminated June 14, 2013.
