Spring Hill, Florida-- A man is suffering from potentially serious injuries after a family member struck him with their SUV over an argument Friday evening.

According to Hernando County Sheriff's officials, 28-year-old Phillip Atkins was visiting relatives at a home on the 2000 block of Fentress Court when he and the victim began fighting.

Atkins left the home, but deputies say it wasn't long before he went back and "used his 1997 Ford Expedition to strike the family member."

The victim was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.

Atkins was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

The name of the victim and his relation to Atkins has not been released.
