Tampa, FL (Sports Network) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced thatkicker Connor Barth will miss the upcoming season after undergoing surgeryMonday to repair a torn Achilles tendon.
Barth, who will placed on the non-football injury list, suffered the injury inhis hometown of Wilmington, NC, last Friday at a charity basketball game with other NFL players.
The Buccaneers replaced Barth by signing veteran Lawrence Tynes to a one-yearcontract.
"We are disappointed to lose a productive player like Connor, but are veryfortunate to be able to sign an experienced kicker at this time of year,"Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement Wednesday."Lawrence and his agent, Ken Harris, had other standing opportunities, but weare pleased that they thought this was the right place for Lawrence tocontinue his career."
Tynes played the last six seasons with the New York Giants, winning two SuperBowls. The 35-year-old has converted 190-of-233 field goals in 129 careergames with the Kansas City Chiefs and Giants.
