Bradenton, Florida -- Following an undercover operation, a 71-year-old man was arrested for sending explicit text messages and attempting to meet up with who he thought was a 15-year-old boy.
Bradenton Police say detectives first became aware of Raymond Robarge's intentions when they were told by two young men he had approached them in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue West on July 18 and engaged them in an inappropriate conversation.
During the conversation, they told police he would pay them money if they would perform sex acts with him. He then gave them his phone number as they told him to leave them alone.
Now that detectives had his number, an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old boy started communicating with Robarge. Detectives say Robarge described in graphic detail how he wanted to engage in sex acts with the teen and later agreed to meet up with the boy.
When Robarge arrived at the arranged location, he was arrested. Detectives say he was also armed with a permit-issued firearm at the time of his arrest.
During a taped interview with detectives, Robarge reportedly admitted to all the conversations and that he knew the person he was talking to was only 15 years old.
Robarge has been traveling to meet a minor for sex and certain uses of computer services of devices.
