Matt Moore has gone on the disabled list.
A tweet from @SunSportsRays Wednesday confirms the Tampa Bay Rays' starting pitcher is on the DL for elbow soreness.
Moore last pitched on Sunday against the Yankees. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over five frames.
The 24-year-old southpaw is 14-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 21 starts this season, including a shutout against the Red Sox on July 22. His victory total is tied for second in the American League, one behind Detroit's Max Scherzer.
"The goal is to be healthy for the last month and a half. ..I'm very optimistic," said Moore on the Rays' Twitter account.
Infielder Ryan Roberts has been recalled from Triple-A Durham to fill the roster spot, and is in Wednesday night's lineup playing third base. Evan Longoria will be in the game as the designated hitter.
