TAMPA, Florida -- Police, fire, and hazmat crews rushed to the University of South Florida campus the day before classes begin after two staff members reported seeing some kind of white haze at the College of Medicine.

When police arrived, they say they didn't see a haze, but activated fire alarms as a precaution. The entire building was evacuated.

Investigators say the white haze turned out to be from a broken elevator motor. It's now being repaired.
