Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) - Down a set and a break, the quest for a calendar year Grand Slam for Mike and Bob Bryan was on thin ice.
However, the American twins regrouped and claimed a three-set triumph over the Canadian duo of Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil in the third round of the men's doubles at the U.S. Open.
The Bryans rallied for a 6-7 (1-7), 7-5, 6-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at Ashe Stadium.
Nestor and Pospisil dominated the first-set tiebreak and earned an early break in the second set to grab a 4-3 lead. Nestor then had his serve broken and the tide quickly turned from there.
The top-seeded Americans broke serve again and rolled through the third set to keep the Slam hopes alive.
