Sarasota, Florida (News-Press) -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested two Lehigh Acresmen after they tried to make purchases at several Sarasota area storeswith dozens of cloned credit cards.

Deputies arrestedAlfredo Torrella, 35, and Orlando Rodriguez, 39, both of Lehigh Acres,shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night along I-75 northbound after they triedto purchase Home Depot gift cards with several credit cards that weredeclined.

During a search of their rental vehicle deputiesfound 120 counterfeit credit cards, personal information for 29different victims and a fake driver's license. The suspects admittedpurchasing the cards and information from someone in the Miami area forabout $4,500 and were frustrated because many of the cards didn't work.The suspects made purchases in two stores but were arrested by deputies ashort time later.

Torrella is charged with 29 counts ofpossession of personal identification with intent to use, two counts ofcriminal use of personal identification and one count of trafficking infraudulent credit cards. Rodriguez is charged with three counts ofcriminal use of personal identification, one count of trafficking infraudulent credit cards, possession of a counterfeit driver's license,tampering with evidence and obstruction.

Both men were later released and no court date has been set.
