Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police officers are searching for the driver involved in the hit and run of two construction workers early Tuesday morning.

Police say the driver of a silver, 4-door Mitsubishi car with Florida tags was heading south on S. Dale Mabry Hwy, approaching W. San Carlos Street in the curb lane, when the car left the road, drove over the curb and hit two workers and a paint machine. The driver never stopped and continued driving south.

One of the other workers chased the car in his work truck and followed the car south which then turned west onto W. Palmira Avenue before the worker lost sight of it.

Police say one of the workers, 48-year-old Michael Madson, suffered "bumps and bruises" and was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries. The second worker, Craig Walls, was treated at the scene and released.

The driver of the car is described as an Hispanic male with dark hair and small stature.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Tampa Police Department.
