Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Eberle and David Perron each beat New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur in the shootout to help the Edmonton Oilers down the New Jersey Devils, 5-4, on Monday. After the Oilers scored four straight goal to erase a three-goal deficit in the third period, Patrick Elias netted the equalizer with 53.6 seconds to go. Eberle was up first in the shootout and beat Brodeur with a backhander. Damien Brunner sent one wide of the net for the Devils, and Perron followed with a another backhander. Jason LaBarbera turned away Ryane Clowe's backhander to seal the shootout win. Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Andrew Ference Perron each scored in regulation for the Oilers, who got their first win after dropping their first two games of the year. LaBarbera made 21 saves to get his first win with the Oilers. Jaromir Jagr, Michael Ryder and Brunner each tallied for the Devils, who have dropped their first three games of the season.
