Zephyrhills, Florida -- There was an unusual visitor in Pasco County Thursday morning.

Deputies were called to a Zephyrhills neighborhood after someone spotted a strange animal in their yard and couldn't identify it.

When the deputies got to the 37,000 block of Dunbar Avenue, they saw the creature... and were also baffled at what it was. The animal was friendly, at least, and they were able to coax it into a cruiser.

Florida Wildlife officials were finally able to identify the little beastie: it's a coati, a Central and South American mammal related to raccoons. It's also sometimes called a kudamundi.

FWC has the coati in custody as they try to locate its owner.
