St. Petersburg, FL -- The late Congressman Bill Young went by "C.W. Bill Young," short for Charles William.

So when Kathleen Peters' campaign sent out an email last week under the heading of "C.W. Bill Young II," Beverly Young says she was outraged.

"They're dragging me into this and using my husband's name and my husband's letterhead and adding a "II" at the end. That's dirty politics, it is not accepted," Beverly Young told 10 News.

Young believes the email was an intentional attempt by Peters -- who is supported by Bill Young II -- to trick voters into thinking the late Congressman wanted Peters to run and replace him.

"My son never went by 'C.W. Bill Young.' His name is Billy and I consider that dirty politics."

The email also upset Congressman Young's son, Patrick Young. Both Patrick and Beverly support Republican David Jolly in the Congressional District 13 race.

Patrick Young sent an email to Peters calling the use of C.W. as "pathetic" and said it shows the "immaturity in your campaign."

Bill Young II -- whose legal name is Charles William Young II, in honor of his father -- told 10 News by text that "People are smart enough to see what is going on here. This race needs to be about Representative Peters, General (Mark) Bircher and David (Jolly). Along with Lucas Overby, they are all four better candidates than Alex Sink. I hope voters will follow my lead, ignore distractions and focus on putting the best person in Congress."

10 News also reached out to Peters to talk about the issue. She responded with a statement saying, "It is unfortunate for any family to have divisions, but especially the circumstances surrounding this split after such a great loss."

But Beverly Young says the damage is already done, prompting her to say she now wishes she would have run for her late husband's Congressional seat.

"It's embarrassing. I should have run. I should have run. I should have run, because I would not take this. You would be bleeping out everything that I said, but you know what, at least it would be honest."

The Republican primary it set for January 14th with the General Election scheduled for March 11th.
