Riverview, Florida -- A man hospitalized in an apparent case of road rage is now said to be in fair condition. He was originally in critical condition after being struck by the car involved in the incident.
Hillsborough deputies say 39-year-old Carlos Caicedo saw a Honda Civic being driven recklessly by 41-year-old Richard Simpson. At one point, investigators say Simpson nearly hit a child, which is when Caicedo got down Simpson's license plate info.
Simpson allegedly saw Caicedo do this, and he began to follow the other driver.
The two men got out of their vehicles in the area of Golden Silence Drive and Ambleside Boulevard, where an argument ensued.During the argument, investigators say Simpson got back into his car and struck Caicedo.
Caicedo was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable condition.
Simpson is currently in custody, charged with one count of attempted murder.
