Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota Police Department has arrested a man for the New Year's Day homicide on 4th Street.

On January 1, officers arrived at 4th Street around 4:25 a.m. and found a man bleeding from multiple stab wounds and attempted to revive him. All attempts were unsuccessful and the victim, later identified as Johnny Luna, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, on New Year's Eve Jorge Macias was having a heated argument with his family, which turned physical. Macias went to a party at a home on 5th street where he got into another heated argument with several people, including Luna.

Police executed a search warrant at the home of Macias and found a set of kitchen knives which matched as a murder weapon found at the crime scene. While he was being interviewed by detectives, Macias then confessed to killing Luna.
