Wallops Island, Va. (Florida Today) -- A commercial cargo ship is on its way to the International SpaceStation on after blasting off this afternoon from Virginia's EasternShore.
Orbital Sciences Corp.'s roughly130-foot Antares rocket lifted off from Wallops Island at 1:07 p.m.,carrying an unmanned Cygnus spacecraft packed with nearly 2,800 poundsof supplies and experiments.
The Cygnus is on course to reachthe station early Sunday, where Expedition 38 astronauts steering arobotic arm will capture and berth it to the outpost.
The mission is Orbital's first of eight planned through 2016 under a $1.9 billion NASA resupply contract.
