Clearwater, Florida -- On Monday, Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri fired a veteran, Corporal Curtis Kindle, for having sex while on duty.
However, Kindle is not alone.
10 Investigates looked into other deputies in the Pinellas Sheriff's Office and we discovered in the past seven months two other deputies left the sheriff's office while being investigated for having sex on the job.
Even before this latest incident came to light, we have been going through Internal Affairs reports regarding deputies who are supposed to be protecting the public but, instead, are being investigated for have sex while they are supposed to be working.
Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri is not happy about it.
"It's something that's not right, it violates policy and rules. It's not ethical, it's not moral, it's them not doing their job and of course it's a problem -- it's a big problem," says Gualtieri.
For example, in an Internal Affairs report, Corporal Gregory Burnham was being investigated for being out of his patrol zone while on duty and having sex with a woman he previously arrested. When he was asked why he was at her apartment several times, Burnham lied to his sergeant saying he was using the bathroom at his mother's house.
Before being interviewed under oath Burnham resigned in May.
According to another Internal Affairs report, Sgt. Pete Kolnicki was being investigated for having an affair on duty, sending inappropriate and offensive emails from his sheriff's office computer to the woman, disabling his GPS, so his location could not be tracked and lying to his superiors.
Kolnicki retired in August.
The sheriff says if the men had not voluntarily left, then he would have fired them.
"The message we send with these, and I'm going to continue to send, it will end your career when you engage in this activity -- so don't do it,"Gualtieri says.
Both former deputies will get their pensions.
Kolnicki will receive $63,000 every year for the rest of his life. The amount Burnham will receive is not public because he is in the investment plan.
