Zane, a shelter alumni of the Humane Society of Pinellas, is credited with saving his owner's life after he went intocardiac arrest while at home alone.

Zane's persistent barking alerted a neighbor that something wasn't right. The neighbor called a family member of Douglas Smith and then 911.

Smith is currently at a Cardiac Rehabilitation Center in Clearwater and staff gave him permission for Zane to visit him at the center.

The shelter was able to provide emergency pet care and boarding for urgent situations like this one for Zane.
