(USA TODAY) -- Like the video for her singleCannonball, which begins in shadows and disrepair but ends in bursts of bright, dazzling lights, the song itself helped Lia Michelle through a dark time in her life.

Michelle premiered theCannonballvideo Thursday. The single will appear on her solo albumLouder, due in March.

Michelletold radio host Elvis Duranlast month that her boyfriend andGleeco-star Cory Monteith heard all but two of the songs onLouderbefore he died in July.Cannonballwas one of those songs.

Michelle says she first heard the song when Australian singer-songwriter Sia played it for her.

"I had a physical reaction to the song," Michelle told Duran. "It's more than just a song for me. It has helped me so much in this process, personally. It's given me strength; it's given me hope. ... It's so inspiring."
