Tampa, Florida -- Let the beads soar and the floats roll in.
In just two days, Gasparilla's Children's parade will make its way down the street.
But extra security will be rolling down Bayshore Boulevard as well.
"After incidents at the Boston Marathon, that changed the landscape of large-scale events for us," says Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor.
Chief Castor says that tragic day nearly a year ago in Boston has them increasing security like never before for this year's Gasparillaparades.
"There are no threats, no indications whatsoever at Gasparilla [suspicious]activities, but we want to make sure we're prepared," says Chief Castor.
This year, K9 units will be sweeping every float and cameras will be set up along the parade route.
"We want it to be fun and want it to be safe," says Dr. James Von Thron, Captain of the Ye Mystic Krewe. "If you can behave yourself, you can still have a great time."
Parade goers are also encouraged to download the Tampa Police Department's mobile app. If you see something suspicious, they can take a picture and submit it directly to the parade command center.
The children's parade starts at 3:30 on Saturday.
