St. Petersburg, Florida -- An officer was hit by a PSTA bus while directing traffic.

Around 7 a.m. on Saturday morning, Officer Michael Weiskopf was assisting with traffic in the area of 59th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete.

While directing traffic, Officer Weiskopf, while on his motorcycle, was attempting to assist another motorist when he was struck by a PSTA bus. The bus was traveling at a low rate of speed at the time of the incident.

Officer Weiskopf was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger on the bus who was standing during the crash was also injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The bus driver and the second passenger on the bus were not injured during the crash.
