Hudson, Florida -- Two young women are dead after getting trapped in a fire at home in Hudson.

The flames broke out Monday morning on Pine Street, off Hudson Avenue west of U.S. 19.

The victims are Jessica Keith and Amber Lynn Jordan, both24 years old.

Neighbors tell 10 News the two young women were friends who had been staying with the parents of one of the women. They had lived in this Pasco County community for just a few weeks, as they waited to move into a place of their own.

Then suddenly... it was all gone.

10 Newstalked with a man who tried to save one of the women. We want to warn you: Some of what he says is graphic and tough to hear.

Outside the home Monday morning,a middle-aged man and woman held each other, helpless. Neighbors say they're the parents of one of the two young women killed in the fire.

Joshua Smith, who lives across the street, says the mother was away from home and the father was out walking the dog at around 7 a.m.

"The flames were shooting out of the door, flames were shooting out the glass -- all the windows and everything," Smith said, explaining the awful sight he saw as he ran to the home to help.

"I run up the stairs. I see the back door is kicked off, and there's a woman on fire hanging out the door. So I just started to grab her, pull her out to save her, but she was deceased already," Smith said.

Smith's hand is wrapped in a thick white bandage. "My hand -- from grabbing her -- started to melt."

Fire experts and Pasco County Sheriff's Office investigators spent hours looking around the manufactured home. It sits above a garage, about a dozen feet off the ground.

The hope is that maybe answers will help the grieving couple find some tiny bit of peace.

"I knew them and I talked to them. They were pretty decent people," Smith said. "All I wanted to do was save their life."

A sheriff's spokeswoman says the agency is working to help sort out whether the fire is has a suspicious cause or was an accident. That final determination will be made by the fire marshal's office, which will eventually announce the fire's cause.
