It was once known as BayWalk. Then it became the Shops at St. Pete. Now downtown St. Petersburg's shopping complex is undergoing a major facelift and with it a new name: Sundial.

A group of developers led by former St. Pete Mayor Rick Baker made the announcement on Wednesday.

"It's another great day in St. Petersburg when we are taking the best talent from around the world, including right here in St. Pete, and creating a gathering place that will quickly become the envy of North America," Baker said in a press release.

The revamped shopping complex -- which is still under heavy construction -- will feature a giant crossbow sundial as its centerpiece. Also under construction is a new courtyard fountain, a mosaic lagoon and bronze dolphin sculptures.

Sundial will reopen in a phased rollout, beginning in March and going through the summer.
