St. Petersburg, Florida --Three people have been arrested and chargedafter police say they shot multiple people with a pellet gun in St. Petersburg.

Officials say the men thought it would be "funny" watching people jump around.

Arrested and charged are James Anthony Chin, Christian Eduardo Menrano-Ramirez and Richard Brody Thompson. A fourth person was also questioned, but released.

Calls came in to the St. Petersburg Police Department around 9:30 a.m. Thursday regarding people being shot at by suspectsdriving in an SUV. All told,nearly 20different shooting incidents were reported.

One man, Eric Menges, was shot in the hand near 2nd Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard. Speaking with 10 News, Menges described the pain as being similar to a bee sting, and causing his hand to swell up.

"Well it's very stupid. There's no motive for it," Menges said. "I don't have any enemies in St. Pete... it is upsetting."

"Those guys who did it, they need to be punished... to the max so that they will learn a lesson," said downtown hot dog vendor Daniel McBride.He was about 100 feet from Menges when he was shot.

At least12 people reported being struck by pellets.

People reported being hit in their legs, hands and back, but police say none of the injuries were serious.

During questioning, the men claimed they were not targeting anyone in particular, just shooting at random.

The suspects were arrested around noon at 9th Avenue North and 12th Street. Officials say they recovered the pellet gun used in the shootings.

Chin faces the most charges, with eight counts of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated assault and one count of criminal mischief.
