Tampa, Florida -- Amongst talks of military cuts this week, the US Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base broke ground on its new Joint Special Operations University.
This groundbreaking comes four days after Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced cuts will shrink the Army size and changes in military pay.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn adds "It is one of the biggest economic engines we have here, multi-billion dollar impact. We need to preserve what takes place here, We need to make sure that our military families know that we love them. And we need to do whatever we can to grow SoCom and CentCom"
As for the new operations center it will have 16 classrooms, a library, meeting rooms and an auditorium.
Special Ops personnel from around the world will come to the center to learn. Other agencies like the CIA and the state department will take part in the courses as well.
