Tampa, Florida -- USF appears to be close to naming their next Athletic Director.
Late Saturday night, Chris Foster of the Los Angeles Times tweeted out, "UCLA associate AD Mark Harlan has accepted (the Athletic Director) position at USF."
Foster, the UCLA beat writer, cited an anonymous source as his basis for the tweet.
Harlan has been linked as a potential candidate for USF's search for some time.No official time has been set announce the hiring.
"Crucial steps in the process remain," according to one USF official 10 Sports spoke with.
Harlan, a graduate of Arizona has served as the Bruins' associate A.D. since 2010.
Per his UCLA bio page,Harlan has overseen growth in the university's new media, overall communication strategies and increased revenue.
He also played an intricate part in a $200 million renovation of the Rose Bowl and a new 30-year lease between the iconic stadium and UCLA.
Current USF Athletic Director Doug Woolard is set to retire in June when his contract expires, following a decade on the job.
