Winter Haven, Florida -- A 57-year-old woman is dead and her 36-year-old son is charged with her murder after he allegedly stabbed her in a fit of rage over money.
The Winter Haven Police Department says Micah Hobbs entered his mother's bedroom at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 9 and began stabbing her.
The victim's 83-year-old mother, who was sleeping in another room, reportedly awoke to cries for help and went to check on her daughter.
Police say she found Eva Hobbs lying on the bed in a pool of blood and immediately called 911.
Police officers found Micah Hobbs at the corner of 2nd St. and Ave. G SE. They say he was sitting in the street. He was taken into custody.
During an interview, Micah Hobbs told detectives he stabbed his mother because she was controlling his money and he was tired of it.
He is charged with first degree murder.
