Valrico, Florida -- A child's worst nightmare - a mother murdered. Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say that's what happened to a Brandon woman this week who leaves behind her 13, 9 and 7-year-old children.
Now, a Mom to Mom group close to the victim, Christina Mahzamani, says it hopes to help.
"That was my first reaction, really pray for the kids and the family left behind," Amy Cannon said in a phone interview Wednesday.
Cannon is a group leader at Mom to Mom, a support group for mothers at the Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon that Mahzamani was part of.
"I actually didn't know until today that it was an academy mom. When I first heard this I was shocked. The horror of it, feeling awful it was a mother," she said.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say her body was discovered between two houses on St. Cloud Oaks Drive, one of which belonged to her boyfriend Michael Fields who was arrested in connection with her death.
"When I found out it was closer than I thought -- obviously it was wow, very shocking and tragic," Cannon said.
Deputies say the victim's children were the first to report her missing. A Facebook page was setup by her family soon after.
Her sister didn't want to go on camera, but said in a message she was a devoted, loving mother. Her father-in-law agreed saying off camera she was a good mother.
Cannon says the Mom to Mom group will try to do anything it can.
"[We will] pray for her and help the family with meals or anything like that. I am sure it's a huge void -- we have never been through that as a group. I can only imagine."
