(FloridaToday.com) - A stoic Steven Lillie with hands and feet shackled said nothing during his first appearance in front of a judge Saturday, five days after his daughter died in a hot vehicle.

He stared straight ahead wearing a green anti-suicide smock as he listened to his attorney Jennifer Collins Mostert, who negotiated the terms of his release. Lillie faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.

Lillie, 31, was arrested Friday following a Rockledge Police Department investigation into the death of his 9-month-old daughter, Anna Marie Lillie, who died Monday after being left in a hot vehicle for nearly four hours.

In a courtroom inside the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes, Judge George Turner ruled that there was probable cause to continue after reviewing the non-capital murder, first-degree felony case.

He accepted the recommendations of $15,000 bond from state and defense attorneys.

"He is not a flight risk, he has extensive family here," Mostert told the judge.

Turner, however, prohibited Lillie from being alone with children younger than 12 years old.

On Monday, his daughter was left in her father's black pickup truck for nearly four hours in the parking lot of a Rockledge commercial plaza while Steven Lillie worked inside.

He found the child in the truck and called 9-1-1 after receiving a call from a relative asking about the infant's whereabouts.

Lillie said that he had been distracted as he pulled into the plaza to work at the Fraternal Order of Police in Barton Plaza as a phone solicitor.

"She's been in the car for hours, and I absolutely forgot about her," Lillie stated on a 9-1-1 call. "She's not alive."

Lillie, who police described as distraught, told authorities he had intended to leave his daughter with her grandmother before going to work.

Lillie, who was released from jail at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, will make his next court appearance in front of Judge George Maxwell at 8 a.m. July 29 at the Viera courthouse.
