1. Fifth anniversary of Michael Jackson's death
It's been five years since Michael Jackson died, yet his career is more alive than it has been in decades. Just last month, the singer moonwalked across a Las Vegas stage in a nationally televised hologram performance. A new album recently made its debut at No. 2 on the music charts. And a traveling Cirque du Soleil show based on Jackson's songs has logged nearly 500 performances worldwide. The result has been an estate that has earned more than $600 million since the King of Pop's untimely death at age 50.
2. Google to showcase latest products at developer's conference
Google kicks off its annual I/O developers conference in San Francisco starting at 9 a.m. PT Wednesday. Wearable technology such as Glass and Google's line of Android Wear smartwatches are expected to take center stage during the company's I/O keynote — but nothing is confirmed yet. Yesterday, Google announced an update to Glassware, a suite of apps available to owners of Google Glass.
3. More Supreme Court decisions expected
The high court will continue to release decisions Wednesday as it preps to wrap for the summer. After the justices announced their split decision on the regulation of greenhouse gases, there are still seven more high-profile cases involving presidential powers and broadcast regulation left undecided. Regardless of the decisions, it will be a happy day for Justice Sonia Sotomayor as she celebrates her 60th birthday.
4. Reports: Spaghetti western star Eli Wallach dies.
U.S. actor Eli Wallach has died aged 98, according to reports in the New York Times and BBC. Wallach appeared in movies such as How the West was Won, The Magnificent Seven and The Misfits. His daughter confirmed his death.
5. Beyoncé and Jay Z begin 'On The Run' international tour
The Carters cometh! Wednesday night marks the opening of the famed couple's first national tour together. Opening at Miami's Sun Life Stadium, this is just stop one on the 21-venue tour throughout the country and two additional performances in Paris.
Bonus: Thad Cochran wins GOP Senate nod in Mississippi.
Cochran on Tuesday night narrowly defeated rival Chris McDaniel in Mississippi's closely watched Republican runoff by making a last-minute appeal to blacks and Democrats. The bitterly fought Democratic primary race between U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel and his challenger state Sen. Adriano Espaillat was too close to call early Wednesday.
