Longmont, CO. -- After the multiple deaths of children dying in hot cars that have been publicized, two good Samaritans decided to take action and were almost killed for their good deed.

The Daily Mail reports that a Colorado couple, Shannon Dominguez and her boyfriend Alan Mason, were in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree when they saw a baby boy sitting in a car alone with the windows rolled up in the direct view of sunlight.

Dominguez, 43, called police.

When the child's mother, 27-year-old Kristina Riddell, returned to her car and saw Dominguez calling 911, she became infuriated and hit Mason -- the boyfriend -- in the face just before threatening to fight Dominguez.

Things quickly got worse from that point.

According to the report, Riddell quickly got into her car, reversed, and accelerated her car towards the couple. Dominguez was hit by the car first and Mason's body rolled over the hood of the car. Mason tried to hang on and eventually let go when he realized that Riddell did not intend on stopping.

Mason had internal and external bruising.

Dominguez's injuries were more severe. Her left leg was crushed and she had been confined to a wheelchair. Doctors are unsure of whether or not she will ever be able to walk normally again.

According to the news report, Riddell has an extensive criminal past including multiple driving violations and assault. Riddell is now facing charges of hit-and-run, assault, and child abuse.
