CHICAGO - Police want to know who gunned down an army veteran at point blank range on Monday night, reports CBS Chicago.
Authorities said 39-year-old Gabriel Stevens was riding a bicycle when a red car pulled up alongside him and someone in the vehicle opened fire, according to the station.
Stevens was found dead at the scene in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side, the station reports. Now, his family wants answers. The Chicago Tribune reports the victim was hit in the chest and arm.
"Something has to change with this city," the victim's sister-in-law, Sharon Stevens, told CBS Chicago. "I don't know what the mayor's response is going to be or the police superintendent... but they have to do something so that we can save our children."
Stevens served in the army for five years. Police do not currently have anyone in custody.
