Clearwater Beach, FL – An autographed wrestling shoe stolen from Hulk Hogan's Beach Shop was eventually going to be sold with some proceeds going to support a local charity for amputees. That is according to Ron Howard at the Hogan Beach Shop.
"It's one of those things we were going to hold onto as a piece for people to look at and then promote it to sell it, to give a portion to (Steve Chamberland's) 50 Legs," Howard told 10 News.
On Thursday, Clearwater Police also released a new photo of the thief. She is described as a woman in her 50's and possibly from Michigan.
"To us, it's heartbreaking," Howard added.
An autographed wrestling shoe stolen from Hulk Hogan's Beach Shop was eventually going to be sold with some proceeds going to support a local charity for amputees.
The shoe, valued at $5,500 was worn by Hogan during work-outs in the 1990's. Howard said it was made by Steve Cardillo, who also made several of Hogan's wrestling belts.
Hogan had signed the shoe and it was on display near the back of the store when a woman walked out of the store with it on Sunday. The incident was caught on a surveillance camera.
Howard said right before the woman grabbed the shoe, a group of ladies knocked over a statue of the wrestler outside the store, presumably as a distraction. The fiberglass statue was also damaged in the fall.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Clearwater Police.
