Homosassa, Florida -- The man charged with killing his one-year-old son last week so he could continue playing video games, is facing more charges after detectives say they discovered the child was living in "deplorable conditions". Two others living in the home were also arrested and a three-month-old girl has been removed from the home.
One sergeant from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office even reportedly commented that the home had "the worst roach infestation I have ever seen." The home also wreaked so bad, it could be smelled from the street.
The baby girl who was removed from the home was found to be in immeditate need of medical treatment. She was initially taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital and transferred over to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville where she was put in the ICU unit after medical staff discovered she had "flat head syndrome" from being left in a crib or playpen for extended periods of time. She also had a severe yeast infection that covered her body and actually caused tissue damage, as well as other medical issues.
After being released, she was placed in foster care and not with relatives.
"The death of Daymeon was a horrible tragedy, but it led to the discovery of extreme abuse to the baby girl in the house," said Undersheriff Buddy Grant. "Thankfully, we got to this child when we did. I don't want to think about what would have happened to her without this type of intervention."
Cody Wygant, 24, has been additionally charged with Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm/Permanent Disfigurement and is being held without bond. Geneva DuFour, 55, and Jessika DuFour, 22, were also arrested on charges of Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm/Permanent Disfigurement.
