Pinellas County, Florida -- A 21-year-old Clearwater man has been arrested for luring two children into his apartment with the promise of candy, ice cream and showing them his pets.

Christopher Anthony Lorch made contact with the victims - a 7-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy - near his apartment on Friday evening.

Under the false pretense of offering them candy and ice cream and showing them his pets, he got them inside his apartment. He then took the girl upstairs and locked her inside a bedroom.

The male victim ran from the apartment screaming for help from neighbors and other children in the apartment complex.

That's when Clearwater Police were called, and officers took Lorch into custody.

"We're very fortunate that nothing happened to those kids," said Chief Tony Holloway.

Lorch is being held in the Pinellas County Jail. He is charged with one count of false imprisonment and two counts of luring and enticing a child.
