Tampa, Florida - A community continues to mourn the 9-year-old Tampa girl who went missing exactly one week ago. A day later, her body was found in the water near the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
On Friday night, a wake for Felecia Williams is taking place at a church in Tampa. Her funeral will be held tomorrow. But as family and friends remember the peppy cheerleader, friends of the prime suspect in this case are also speaking out.
They say Granville Ritchie lived in the apartment complex where Felecia was last seen alive, but they say there is no way he is responsible for Felecia's murder or unrelated charges he had sex with a minor. They claim he was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Antoinette Donaldson says she has been a close friend of Granville Ritchie's mother since they lived in Kingston, Jamaica. Donaldson says she moved to the U.S. first, and then Granville's mom followed. She says over the past couple of months, Granville's mother rented an apartment at the Doral Oaks Apartment complex, where Felecia was last seen alive.
She swears Granville Ritchie is a good guy and would never hurt anyone. She says police have the wrong man.
"I know he was in the car with that little girl. He took her to the Doral Oaks apartments, but she must've left the apartment while they were there. She must've just walked out," says Donaldson.
When asked if she believes he's guilty of having sex with a minor, she says it's a complete lie.
